Murugan Sankaran

Murugan Sankaran is an esteemed professional with a rich educational and career background. He is a Management Graduate from Delhi University with a specialization in Financial Management. Further enhancing his academic credentials, he holds a Post Graduate Degree in Computer Application from one of the premier colleges in Tamil Nadu, India. With over 29 years of experience in the financial services sector, of which 21 years were spent in the banking industry, Murugan has made a significant impact in his field.

Prior to founding Lighthouse, Murugan had been leading the Investment Banking activities at IL&FS Group in Dubai, an institute renowned for its specialization in Public-Private Partnership projects in infrastructure development. His primary responsibilities in this role include providing advisory and arranger services for raising capital, both for external and internal clients.

Demonstrating his exceptional skills and expertise, Murugan has successfully raised over USD 2.0 billion in capital over the past eight years.

Murugan's specialization extends to project structuring for Build-Operate-Transfer (BOT) and Public-Private Partnership (PPP) models across various sectors, focusing on the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) region and India. His capabilities are diverse, encompassing Debt Syndication, Mergers and Acquisitions Advisory, Private Equity Fundraising, and Project Advisory. Prior to his tenure at IL&FS, Murugan gained extensive experience in the banking sector, working in various capacities that covered Project Finance, Corporate & Institutional Banking, Trade Finance, and Treasury. This breadth of experience has solidified his reputation as a leading figure in the financial services sector.
